FJV AVIATION ASSISTS ITS CLIENTS TO REGISTER AIRCRAFT IN MALTA. [SC1]
Francis J. Vassallo & Associates, a sister company of FJV Aviation, assisted our clients in incorporating a Maltese company to trade and operate aircraft and to engage in other aviation activities.
This company’s first project was to acquire two aircraft – a PAC 750XL and a Pilatus PA32 – from outside the EU and ‘import’ such aircraft into Malta for VAT purposes. This was followed by the acquisition of three other aircraft and a helicopter, the latter three aircraft beinf similarly imported into Malta and all registered on the Maltese Register. The aircraft in question were a Cirrus SR20, a Cessna 172S, a Piper PA32-301XTC, all non-EASA aircraft registered in a European country which were given Maltese Registration marks 9H-AIR, 9H-ELP, and 9H-NWS, respectively. The helicopter was a Eurocopter AS350 B2, previously registered in Italy, and was given marks 9H-PTM.
FJV Aviation assisted its clients in making the necessary applications to the Civil Aviation Directorate in Malta and preparing various documents in support of the applications, such as the Maintenance Programme, the Airworthiness Review Certificate Recommendation, and approval of the Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) for most of the aircraft. Aircraft Radio Station Licences were also obtained from the Malta Communications Authority.
FJV Aviation also assisted its clients in obtaining licence validations for pilots operating the airplanes and helicopter.
Frans Camilleri, Managing Director of FJV Aviation, said that the registration of three non-EASA aircraft was a significant challenge but, thanks to close collaboration with the airworthiness section of the Civil Aviation Directorate, all the difficulties encountered were overcome. “We are grateful to the CAD for their cooperation and assistance at all times,” he said.
Francis Vassallo, Chairman of the FJV Group, added that the importation and/or registration of the aircraft was a first for the Group. He said that the successful outcome of the project confirms Malta’s attractiveness as a location for registration of aviation companies and aircraft, and “was possible thanks to the ease with which owners and operators can have access to the CAD, as well as the interest that the Ministry of Transport takes in the aviation industry”.
